On August 8, 2013, Lt. Morgan, while working at the Clarke County Jail, collapsed in the Jail’s Intake area. He was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced.

Athens, GA, August 8, 2013 – It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our friend and colleague Lieutenant William “Bill” Morgan.

Lt. Morgan, while working as the “B“ Shift commanding supervisor at the Clarke County Jail, collapsed at 12:14 am this morning in the Jail’s Intake area. The brave men and women of his shift, the Jail medical staff, Emergency Medical Technicians, and Clarke County Fire Rescue worked tirelessly to revive him. He was transported to Athens Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced.

Our prayers go out to his loving family. He is survived by his wife, teenage son and two daughters.

Lt. Morgan served the Clarke County community and the Sheriff’s Office for over 23 years as a dedicated and caring member of our law enforcement community.

More information will be provided once it is obtained in reference to the funeral and other arrangements.
